SHAWANA CUSTIS
I am the proud Founder & Owner of Custis Care Academy. I am a proud mother of four successful young adults. Three of my children are college educated and one is a self employed independent contractor.
I have been caring and nurturing my own children, neighborhood and community kids for almost three decades.
I have been working in the medical field for the past twenty two years but my lifelong dream was to open a top quality childcare center. My goal is to help nurture the children of our future.
Custis Care Academy is much more than a babysitting service. We are a family friendly oriented establishment and our top priorities are to provide education, quality care, nutrition and positivity in a clean, safe and loving environment.
I am the PROGRAM DIRECTOR of Custis Care Academy. Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to work with children. I started out babysitting my neighbor's children at age twelve. I volunteered at several daycare centers and summer camp programs.
After graduating high school I decided to pursue my passion of working with children by earning a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work with a concentration in children and families. I have worked as a Case Worker, TSS/Behavior Specialist and Youth Counselor over the past five years.

I am the PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR of Custis Care Academy. I am here to ensure the success and effectiveness of the program. I am responsible for developing plans and framework that organizes the program into clear tasks which will be delegated to specific staff members. I supervise and ensure staff members carry out activities while monitoring their work coaching and mentoring. Further, I constantly evaluate the overall success of the program by collecting data and creating reports for assessment at our weekly Management meetings.
